Amazon Subfaction

The Amazon lands are generally found on the outskirts of Halodyne city states and temple lands and the cultures have become interdependent. As a mostly nomadic culture the Amazons are largely a cavalry-based people, providing missile support and fast attack to the Halodyne armies. Amazons are therefore frequently hired to accompany Halodyne armies and raiding parties. They are a brash and wild race of women, cursed by the gods to produce no male children, but against the odds, the Amazons have survived and thrived. Today they roam the prairies, steppes, chaparral, and wastelands of three continents.

Godquester

As the name implies, these heroic individuals quest to Become gods themselves, by finding and consuming the Essence of the Dead Goddess Dhannya, trapped in the moment of her horrifying demise.

As the Godquester consumes ever more anima, his or her power grows proportionately until their body is no longer the vessel of their soul, but merely a tiny anchor holding them
within the Material Plane. Over decades of dangerous questing, Godquesters develop a
huge range of skills and abilities with multiple weapons. Besides that they also learn to use and even create spells, Making them incredibly dangerous opponents.

Game Role:
The Godquester is a lone-wolf warlord who can destroy units on her own. This warlord is extremely versatile, being good in melee, having missile attacks and is also being a spell-caster. The Godquester also has access to a huge number of items: bows, swords, talismans, potions and armor. In fact, when fully equipped, the Godquester is the most expensive warlord in Wave-1, so this should give a clue to how powerful she is.

Being a lone-wolf warlord, she only possesses one unit tactic for buffing troops, and this one improves missile attacks of friendly models, so she makes a useful warlord for the Amazons. One unusual aspect of this model is that it can be deployed as a warlord of any of the three sub-factions of the Halodynes, and comes with three different profile cards. The amazon version has MEL 8 and MIS 8, making her lethal in both missile and melee fighting, plus she has a basic DEF of 15 and ARM of 7 which can be improved with items and spells. Besides that, she can move at normal speed through difficult terrain and cast spells while engaged in melee.

As the only warlord of the Amazons in Wave-1, she can be used for very effective long-range shooting, and then makes an excellent warlord-killer. The Godquester is an excellent investment because she can also be used to lead city-state warbands or Temple warbands using her other two profile cards.

Amazon Hunters

AmazonGalloping at the vanguard of every Amazon tribe are the Hunters – light cavalry, armed with bow and sword, whose primary role is the protection of the herds and the hunting of
wild beasts. During times of war, the Hunters become the scouts and light cavalry, supporting the heavier Amazon units.

Advance, shoot, withdraw – this is the mantra of the Amazon Hunter, and from above their formations look like ocean waves sweeping in and out from the shore as their
enemies wear themselves out.

When the enemy strays too close, the Hunters draw their cavalry Kopis – a tip-weighted slashing sword – and charge the foe.

Game Role:

The Amazons are a cavalry based subfaction, with good missile weapons, rather laike ancient steppe peoples. Future releases will add medium and heavy cavalry and even some infantry (although the focus will remain cavalry. An Amazon warband in wave-1 can be built around a Godquester and two units of Amazon Hunters. These can be used in a classic close, shoot, retreat strategy until the enemy has been worn down, then a heavy supporting unit like Hill Ogres can provide the main melee charge, backed up by the Amazons. On the charge they can do quite some damage, but they should be placed carefully so they are not engaged by more than one enemy model, to avoid heavy casualties in counter-attacks. However, the speed of the amazons should enable you to charge units who have already expended all their action tokens moving to catch you.
With a potential movement range of 20 inches per round and a charge range of 14 inches, they are extremely maneuverable. Add to this their subfaction ability of free movement when charged, means they are a tricky enemy to face.

Kydoime

image008Kydoime is a character from the Godslayer universe, an Amazon who was cast out and later rose to become a warlord of her tribe. Myrina, Matriarch of the Bloodkin Brides, had good reason to hate the gods for not protecting her tribe from the monster known as the Chimera, while she led her warriors to war to do the her gods’ bidding, But cursing the gods brought her tribe into even greater misfortunes of famine, and disease. Myrina had given birth to a daughter who was now seven summers old. In order to save the child, Myrina’s sister, Amynthia agreed a pact with the clan Matriarchs, safeguarding the child’s life in exchange for drugging Queen Myrina. Myrina was staked to the ground and sacrificed to the goddess Venata.

Amynthia changed their names and they slipped into obscurity. Kydoime had taken the name Desdemona, and three years later they were accepted into the Starshadows tribe. She grew up there until her identity was discovered at which point she was cast out hand made her way as caravan guard, mercenary and pirate. But the gods had a greater fate in store for Kydoime, and after reaching the depths of the gutters, she came to know her true heritage and began her awe-inspiring climb from drunkard to queen of her mother’s tribe.

Game Role

This model comes as part of the Kydoime and the Chimera Nemesis boxed set, but the Kydoime model has two different profile cards. She can be deployed either as a character or a warlord.

Character Game Role

Primarily she is a stand-alone melee fighter with plenty of cool abilities and equipment including a garrotte, a composite bow and a serrated shield she can use as a weapon in addition to her kopis sword. Due to her DEF of 14 and parry ability she has good survivability in melee.

So Kydoime can add to the rain of missiles produced by your warband and will usually hit with her MIS of 7.

As a support, she has a de-buff ability to shoot charging models while they are charging and deny them their charge bonus and any tactics they had active.

Warlord Game Role

The warlord Kydoime is more of a supporter and is a good alternative to the Godquester who is more of a lone-wolf. She can lead charges allowing other models to charge with a lower action-token expenditure. She has a nice buff tactic for shooting, and she can make melee troops more useful by allowing destroyed models an extra attack before they expire.

But Kydoime is also a very effective melee fighter with the ability to add up to 2 more dice to her damage roll, and causing enemies to suffer a fumble with her Bind Weapon ability. Her Garotte ability allows her to cause extra direct damage on models, so she is a very versatile model.

Besides that, she has a composite bow with a long range of 20 inches and a MIS of 8, so few enemies are safe from her shooting. Additionally she can move normally through difficult terrain.

Her weakness is in extended melee fights against multiple models. Although she has a basic DEF of 15, she has only ARM6 so a few lucky hits can bring her down. For that reason she should chose her fights carefully.
